Wootton Church Improvements Appeal

Patron – John Harwood, Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Oxfordshire.

St. Mary’s Church has served the needs of the community for many centuries, but has to be adapted to meet the requirements of the present day and the future. Phase One of the work will be to remove the pews to the West of the Nave, creating a flexible open space, and install new, cost-effective heating throughout the church. There will also be a servery, and a dais at the front of the Nave.

The aim is to provide improved facilities, not only for the church as a spiritual centre, but as a community asset. Phase Two will be a small extension to house W.C.s.

The target figure to begin Phase One is £125,000. We aim to achieve this through seeking personal donations, applying to grant-giving bodies and holding fund-raising events.

The appeal to raise money for these planned improvements to Wootton Church has begun with a bang and we have had some very generous donations.

For more information, leaflets are available from the church and the village shop.
